The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued an order approving the transfer of all open interest in credit default swaps (CDS) at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) to ICE Clear Credit (ICC).
The CFTC acted at the request of CME and ICE.
On 15 December 2017, CME and ICC each submitted letters requesting that that CFTC permit the transfer of CDS open interest. CME and ICC plan to conduct the transfer on 16 March 2018 by closing out positions at CME and establishing corresponding positions at ICC.

A newly formed group of major finance industry players have joined an OpenFin-led initiative to bring universal connectivity and standards to all of the financial industry’s desktop applications.
The group, known as the Financial Desktop Connectivity and Collaboration Consortium or FDC3, is committed to addressing the increasingly fractured software landscape of capital markets. FDC3 standards will enable faster decision-making, improve productivity and streamline workflow. OpenFin, the first operating system created specifically for finance, and the industry’s only technology designed to be unifying and application-agnostic, has contributed the open-source code that serves as the cornerstone for this new initiative.

Eze Software has signed on 60 broker-dealers to provide connectivity for Eze Eclipse, its cloud-based investment management solution, which supports the entire investment workflow and was launched in 2017.
Eze Software chose 20 emerging equity and event-focused hedge funds as exclusive first users on the platform. It plans to expand access to the platform throughout 2018 by targeting funds that would most benefit from a holistic, user-driven approach to managing the investment process. In 2017, Eze also continued to expand its already well-established presence in the start-up market with 56 start-ups signing on for Eze Investment Suite.

Short interest is a market sentiment indicator that tells whether investors think a stock’s price is likely to fall. It can also be compared over time to examine changes in investor sentiment. By analysing this data, investors can then decide when to buy or sell a specific security.

Ogier has assisted Bletchley Park Asset Management (BPAM) as legal counsel on the launch of its first cryptocurrency fund.
BPAM was founded by Lewis Fellas, a former portfolio manager at the Harvard Management Company, and Ronnie Potel, formerly an executive for Morgan Stanley.
The Fund, structured as a Cayman Islands master feeder fund structure and registered with CIMA, is credited with being one of the few institutional quality cryptocurrency funds at the time of its launch.
