Risk modelling and solutions company RMS has appointed Michael Steel to the company’s top leadership position of General Manager. Steel succeeds Karen White, who has recently stepped down following the completion of the Moody’s acquisition. With more than 30 years of experience in the risk and capital management gained in the insurance industry, Steel most recently served as Global Head of Business Development at RMS and has been at the company since 2016. AXA IM Alts, a specialist in alternative investments with c €183 billion ($202 billion) of assets under management, has appointed Stephan Ackermann to the newly created role of head of client group, North America. Christopher Venezia, a former partner of marketing and investor relations at Glenview Capital Management has been appointed as head of business development at long/short equity hedge fund manager Senvest Management, according to a report by AlphaWeek.
Trading technology expert George Tsimperopoulos has joined hedge fund Balyasny Asset Management as head of execution services, just three years after arriving at Goldman Sachs as as a managing director in 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to joining Goldman, Tsimperopoulos, who describes himself as a specialist in low latency equities electronic trading technology, was co-chief technology officer at Capula Investment Management. 
AxeTrading, a fixed income trading software company, has appointed Greville Lucking as its new chief executive officer. Lucking, who has been with the firm since 2018 in the role of head of customer support & integration, is an experienced business leader within the fixed income technology sector, having been the chief operating officer of EMBonds until its acquisition by BGC Partners.  He has previously held senior roles at Formicary and prior to that was with WestLB.
Muddy Waters Capital (Muddy Waters), an activist investment firm, has appointed Marta Obando as head of investor relations and marketing.
BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Olivier Laplénie as Head of Quantitative Portfolio Management. Based in Paris, he will report to Denis Panel, Head of Multi-Asset, Quantitative & Solutions (MAQS). BNPP AM is combining its two quantitative business lines under unified leadership in order to accelerate its growth in quantitative management and simplify its organisational structure. Alongside his current role Head of Quantitative Fixed Income, Laplénie has been appointed Head of Quantitative Portfolio Management, combining quantitative management across bonds and equities, with assets totalling more than €13 billion.
