The Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland has elected a new chairperson and a vice chairman for a period of three years.
Carola Gräfin von Schmettow (pictured), member of the management board at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt, was appointed as chairperson, and Johannes Pieterse, managing director at Optiver VOF, was elected as vice chairman.
Professor Lutz Johanning, WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, and David Alan Martin, JP Morgan Securities, have been elected to serve as investor representatives on the council.

The Exchange Council of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse – FWB) has re-elected Dr Lutz R Raettig of Morgan Stanley as its chairman.
His vice chairman is once again Dr Werner Brandt of SAP AG.
Dr Christine Bortenlänger (Deutsches Aktieninstitut) and Prof Peter Gomber (Goethe University of Frankfurt/Main) were elected as investor representatives.
The council consists of 18 members elected for a period of three years. The Exchange Council is the highest controlling and supervisory body of a stock exchange. Primary duties include appointing and monitoring the exchange management as well as issuing the exchange regulations, the
James Oussedik has joined Sidley Austin’s London office as counsel.
He will be a senior member of the firm’s investment funds practice, which is dedicated to structuring and advising investment funds and advisers.
Oussedik’s appointment follows that of Stephen Ross, who joined Sidley’s investment funds practice as partner earlier this year and heads Sidley’s London investment funds group.
Oussedik has significant experience in advising fund sponsors on the establishment and maintenance of investment funds and managed accounts, as well as in advising institutional investors in relation to proposed investments. He has represented a broad range of investment fund
New York-based hedge fund Twin Capital Management has appointed Michael Horgan as vice president.
In his new position, he will also serve as co-portfolio manager of event-driven/special situations along with Brett Patelsky, senior vice president, and David Simon, founder and chief executive of Twin.
Horgan has more than seven years of financial experience, primarily in the event-driven space. He previously served as a vice president of Twin for three years identifying, analysing and investing in event-driven situations across industries in the US, UK and Western Europe.

BCS, the largest trader of equities and FX on the Russian exchange, has appointed John Barker as executive chairman of BCS Financial Group (BCS) in London.
Barker (pictured) took up his new role at BCS in January 2014.

Argonaut is co-managed by two British European micro-cap specialists Philip Best and Marc St John Webb.
