LGT Capital Partners has appointed Jaime Castán, formerly of Man Investments, to the executive team of its hedge fund business.
Castán has been appointed co-head of the firm’s hedge fund investment management team, responsible for LGT Capital Partners’ research competence centres.

Fidessa group, a provider of trading systems, market data and connectivity to buy-sides and sell-sides, has appointed Dorothy Friedman as vice president of marketing for the Americas.
Friedman will be responsible for heightening Fidessa’s exposure in the US, Canada and Latin America, and will help drive the company’s growth by rolling out creative programmes and maintaining a strong public presence within the region.
Prior to Fidessa, Friedman held a variety of senior level marketing positions with both SunGard and Broadridge Financial Solutions where she was responsible for developing and managing strategic communications campaigns.

GlobeOp Financial Services has appointed Philip Tazza as global head of investor services.
Tazza reports to Vernon Barback, GlobeOp president and chief operating officer, and is based at the company’s Harrison, New York office. He is also a member of GlobeOp’s operating committee.
"Phil will continue to strengthen GlobeOp’s services and initiatives related to the increased transparency, due diligence and performance data our clients’ investors now require," says Barback. "Responding to the market’s evolution, he will also focus on the support we can offer fund managers, both as they serve their existing investors and reach out to potential new investors."
Pierre-Edouard Coiffard has joined Olympia Capital Management as deputy chief investment officer in charge of strategic analysis.
He is based in London and will report to Guido Bolliger, chief investment officer.
Coiffard was previously senior portfolio manager at Altigefi, a subsidiary of Sal. Oppenheim and Deutsche Bank, where he created and managed the Altipro range of funds since 1998.
He previously founded LC & Co, which in turn created Altigefi, in which he was a major shareholder until its sale in late 2007.

Elvidge, who has over 20 years’ experience in senior compliance and control function roles, joins from Numis Securities where he was head of compliance and managed the compliance teams in both the UK and US.

Asset Control has promoted Andrew Wolf to the position of sales director, Americas.
Based in New York, Wolf will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of the North American sales team, including adding new sales executives in Canada and specific metropolitan areas in the US.
He will also pursue new markets for Asset Control’s AC Invest, a consumption-based data management platform designed to give business users improved control, reduced complexity and rapid implementation.

Heptagon Capital, an asset management business, has hired Arnaud Gandon as chief investment officer of the investment management division and Natalia Greslikova as head of institutional sales for the Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Gandon joined in August having previously been at Union Bancaire Privée in London for 12 years, latterly as head of global equity where he managed institutional mandates and private discretionary portfolios.
Before joining UBP, Gandon was an associate director at Gerrard Investment Management, responsible for European manager selection. Prior to that he spent two years managing a multi-asset advisory portfolio for Credit Agricole Indosuez’s private bank
IDS Capital (Geneva) has appointed Duncan McKay as a director, responsible for the business development of the firm and for asset-raising for IDS Capital’s family of funds.
The funds comprise IDS Umbrella Fund Sicav (Multi managers) and F&F Systematic Trading Fund, the firm’s internally run CTA programme.
McKay started his career as an equities trader in London in 1986, moving into trading and placing Eurobonds.
Formerly the chief executive of Dupre’s, a Monaco based investment firm, his principal focus is on the alternatives investments sector and he has marketed both funds of funds and single manager funds.

EIM has hired John Ward for the role of head of operational due diligence.
Ward will lead EIM’s existing team of experienced operational due diligence professionals and be responsible for maintaining the firm’s position as an industry leader.
“Risk management and operational due diligence are two critical pillars of EIM’s fiduciary responsibility to its clients,” says EIM’s chairman Arpad Busson. “John Ward brings to the firm a wealth of practical knowledge and will be instrumental in developing this function.”

Black joins Hudson Bay from the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he was an assistant regional director in the division of enforcement in the commission’s New York regional office.
