Amundi has hired five investment professionals for its UK branch based in London.
Christopher Morris has joined the company as senior global fixed income manager, Anne Beaudu will join shortly in the same capacity and James Kwok has joined as head of currency management.
Fabio Castaldi and Alexandre Burgues have joined the company as absolute return managers, responsible for managing volatility overlays.
Headed by Laurent Crosnier, chief investment officer, and Markus Krygier, deputy chief investment officer, Amundi London Branch’s investment business covers global fixed income, absolute return, currency, emerging debt and global equities.
Pascal Blanqué, chief executive of
Irish law firm Mason Hayes+Curran has appointed Mark Browne as a partner in its investment funds department.
Browne has over ten years’ experience in the funds industry and advises on all aspects of the structuring, establishment and ongoing operation of investment funds in Ireland.
In particular, he advises on the redomiciliation of offshore funds to Ireland and the restructuring of hedge funds as Ucits.
Prior to joining Mason Hayes+Curran, Browne practised for four years as an attorney-at-law specialising in hedge funds in a law firm in the Cayman Islands. He also previously worked in the investment funds department of another
The Texas Hedge Fund Association has elected a new chairman and three members of its board of directors.
The board unanimously elected Heather E. Gilker of Dallas-based strategic consulting firm GSG Capital Advisors as its chair.
Gilker will serve as chair for an initial two-year term. She replaces Christopher A. Zook, founder of the THFA and its long-serving chair. Zook will remain on the board as a non-voting member.
Newly elected directors serving two-year terms on the THFA board include J. Keith Benedict, chief operating officer, general counsel and a member of the investment committee of A. G. Hill Partners,
Ignis Asset Management has appointed Mark Lovett as chief investment officer – equities.
Lovett will join Ignis on 4 October and will be responsible for overseeing more than GBP10bn of institutional and retail equity assets across Ignis’ proprietary fund range.
Most recently Lovett was chief investment officer UK and European equities in London for Allianz RCM. He was also chairman of the Allianz RCM asset allocation committee in London and a board member of the London executive committee. Lovett was also a member of Allianz RCM’s seven-strong European management group responsible for the management of all aspects of the investment
Apex Fund Services is expanding its North American fund administration services and client base with the opening of its Canada office in Toronto.
Apex Fund Services (Canada) will be managed and run by Alex Chapman. He was formerly vice president and part-owner of Commonwealth Fund Services, the successor to Mintz Fund Services that he created and managed.
Prior to this Chapman worked in Monaco managing a small offshore fund administration company. Chapman was involved in advising both the DIFC and the Monaco government on their collective investment laws.
Apex Fund Services now has offices in 15 countries.

Syncova, a provider of margin and financing software to hedge funds and prime brokers, has opened an office in New York.
The firm has also appointed Kevin Ashby (pictured) as non-executive director.
Syncova’s client base includes some of the largest US prime brokers and hedge funds with a combined total AUM of USD94bn.
The New York office will provide a local support hub for existing clients and drive further business development efforts in North America.

Law firm Greenberg Traurig has added fund lawyers John A. Brunjes and Genna N. Garver to its corporate and securities practice.
Brunjes joins in the Boston and New York offices as shareholder and Garver in the New York office as of counsel, where they will add to the firm’s growing private investment funds group.
Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Brunjes and Garver were at Bracewell & Giuliani in its Connecticut office where Brunjes, a partner, was a member of private investment funds group, and head of the fund formation practice.

Price Asset Management, an investment manager specialising in alternative investment products with a primary focus on the commodity asset class and managed futures, has appointed Edward Egilinsky as a managing director.
Based out of the New York office, Egilinsky will assist in product distribution as well as sales and new product initiatives for the firm.
Egilinsky has over 18 years’ experience in the alternative investment industry. During his career, he has held senior sales management positions and has been responsible for raising multiple billions of dollars in assets for various alternative investment products and strategies.

Barclays Capital has hired ten managing directors based in New York and London for its prime services business.
The appointments include external hires and internal transfers, and encompass the business’s major product lines:
Jack Inglis: head of prime services distribution, Europe, and a member of the prime services executive committee. He was previously chief executive at Ferox Capital Management.
Thomas Chippas: head of quantitative prime brokerage. He was previously at Deutsche Bank where he was head of equities sales, North America for Autobahn, Deutsche Bank’s electronic distribution service.
David Gaynes: head of prime services origination sales for multi-strategy hedge funds.
Trigon Investment Advisors, a New York-based alternative investment manager, has named Keith Byers as managing director – business development.
Byers will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of all sales and marketing efforts for Trigon.
Byers joins Trigon after spending the past 15 years at Chesapeake Capital where he was responsible for marketing and business development activities.
Trigon is a New York-based commodity trading adviser managing approximately USD500m in client assets. Trigon was founded in 2002 by Paul Mastroddi and Ante Basic who together have 45 years of investment experience.
