Equinox Capital Markets, an alternative investment marketing and business development firm, has appointed Michel Serieyssol as managing director.
Serieyssol joins a team dedicated to marketing, sales, and business development solutions for alternative investment managers both in the US and internationally.
Serieyssol will be responsible for marketing a select group of hedge funds, commodity trading advisers and other specialised asset managers including Equinox Fund Management, an affiliated company, to institutional investors in Europe and the US.
Among his first priorities will be to help launch the forthcoming Ucits business of Equinox Fund Management.

The Hedge Fund Association has opened a new chapter in London with future chapters planned for other major European hedge fund cities.
A launch event focused on distressed investing will be held on 5 October at the offices of law firm Brown Rudnick at 8 Clifford Street.

Walsh will report to Stéphane Monier, global head of fixed income and currencies.
Walsh has over 13 years’ experience in emerging market fixed income and currencies, most recently at BlueCrest Capital Management. He joined BlueCrest from GLG Partners, where he was a portfolio manager in the emerging markets/macro group.
Before joining GLG, Walsh spent ten years in Salomon Brothers’ proprietary trading group and its successor entity Emso Partners as a portfolio manager.

Alberto Larson has been named Westcore Capital’s risk management department chairman.
Larson is responsible on overseeing client’s strategy, hedge funds, managed futures funds, client relations and sales.
Larson has served several executive positions such as client relation manager for a securities firm.
He was a former investment executive in the private client group where he focused on client relations, especially in investment evaluation choices in the private equity market.
Larson was also a foreign exchange expert with another brokerage firm where he facilitated investors with charting and technical analysis as well as currency hedging.

Citi has appointed Paul Harvey as prime finance head of sales and capital introduction in EMEA.
Harvey brings over 20 years of experience on both the buyside and sellside.
His goal will be to help widen and grow Citi’s hedge fund relationships in Europe.
In previous roles Harvey has worked as European head of prime brokerage sales at Morgan Stanley and most recently was chief executive of GLG’s fund of hedge funds group.
Harvey will report to Mark Harrison, Billy Macaluso & Andres Recoder.
Citi has named Steve Pitkin head of investor services for its hedge fund services unit within global transaction services.
Reporting into Mike Sleightholme, global head of hedge fund services, Pitkin is responsible for providing leadership for investor services globally within the hedge fund services business.
His focus will be on enhancing Citi’s investor services proposition, growing capabilities in key markets and developing Citi’s operating model and technology to improve client and investor experience and firm profitability and controls.

The Swiss banking group Syz has appointed Patrick Bédat as chief executive of its institutional asset management division Syz Asset Management.
He will take up his position on 13 September and will be in charge of managing the expansion of the group’s entire institutional asset management business.
An attorney-at-law by training, Bédat began his career in 1982 as an institutional asset manager with Pictet in Geneva, a position he held for eight years before joining the management of Banque Cantonale de Neuchâtel, and then that of UBS in Zürich.

Investment manager PineBridge Investments has appointed E. Mervyn Davies, Lord Davies of Abersoch, as non-executive chairman.
Lord Davies joined the firm in August. He will be based in the UK and will work closely with the firm’s management team.

HSBC has appointed Amy McNally as global marketing manager for HSBC Alternative Investments, reporting to Florence Picon.
McNally joins from Barclays Wealth where she was a product specialist covering alternative investments.
Her role involved the marketing and distribution of hedge funds, private equity and real estate products both in the UK and across EMEA.
Prior to joining Barclays Wealth, McNally worked in JP Morgan Treasury Services on the sales and distribution side.
She started her career in ABN Amro Mellon working in their European sales team.

Matrix Group, the privately owned UK financial services business, has hired Alkesh Chohan as an analyst in its fund of hedge funds group.
Chohan joins from TCP Asset Management where he worked as an investment analyst for three years.
He will further strengthen the five-strong fund of funds team at Matrix and will be responsible for conducting thorough due diligence on prospective managers and developing existing relationships with fund managers and prime brokers.
