Law firm Sidley Austin has appointed Alyssa A. Grikscheit as a partner in the Latin America and investment funds, advisers and derivatives practices.
She will be based in the New York office and will focus on cross-border transactions and alternative investment funds.
Grikscheit has significant experience representing clients in Latin American, emerging market and other cross-border transactions, including M&A, joint ventures and fund formation.

C.M. Capital has appointed finance and investment veteran Bruce W. Madding as president and chief investment officer.
Madding has had a long career in finance, accounting, investment and asset management, including 22 years with the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation in Palo Alto, California, most recently as chief financial and investment officer.

Man has appointed Luke Ellis as head of its multi-manager business.
Ellis has over 25 years’ investment management experience.
He has held a number of senior positions including managing director at Financial Risk Management and head of JP Morgan’s global equity derivatives and equity proprietary trading businesses.
Latterly Ellis has been non-executive chairman of GLG’s multi-manager business and manager of the GLG Multi Strategy Fund.

Merriman Curhan Ford has hired Joe Minton as managing director and head of derivatives to launch an agency options trading desk for institutional investors.
Merriman’s new agency options platform complements its equity trading desks in San Francisco and New York to help institutional investors incorporate options into their funds and portfolios.
Options trading can help institutions manage risk and volatility, especially when trading small-cap equities.

Otkritie, one of the largest financial groups in Russia, has bolstered its research team with the appointment of two senior Russian equity market specialists.
Vladimir Tikhomirov, who joins from Uralsib Financial, becomes senior economist at the firm, while Marat Ibragimov, who moves from Citi Investment Research, joins as senior consumer analyst.
They both start at Otkritie on 30 August. They will be based in Moscow and will report to Vladimir Savov, head of research at Otkritie.

LCH.Clearnet has appointed Michael Davie as chief executive of SwapClear, its interest rate swap clearing service.
In this new role, Davie will lead the next phase of the development of SwapClear which will focus on ensuring the best possible products and services are delivered to the buy-side.
He will report to Roger Liddell, chief executive, LCH.Clearnet.
Liddell says: “Clients represent a large proportion of the global interest rate swap market. Michael’s appointment reflects our commitment to delivering OTC derivative clearing services to the buy side and of ensuring that SwapClear’s market leading offering evolves in line with their needs.”

The Conifer Group has appointed Douglas Lang as head of fund administration and managing director.
Lang will manage an 18 person team that provides middle and back office services to more than 100 hedge fund clients.

Isabelle Tykoczinski has been appointed a member at Kinetic Partners and will be joining the London risk team to strengthen and develop the firm’s current risk offering.
Tykoczinski joins Kinetic Partners from Measurisk, where she was head of Europe for the risk transparency and risk measurement service, specialising in hedge funds.
Tykoczinski began her career working in commodity and equity derivatives, where she specialised in structured products and worked closely with investors across Europe, including Ucits funds.
