Black Diamond Capital Management, an alternative asset management firm, has appointed Philip Raygorodetsky as managing director.
Raygorodetsky is joining the firm immediately and will be based in Black Diamond’s Greenwich, Connecticut office.
Raygorodetsky joins Black Diamond’s controlled distressed/private equity team, where he will work alongside the current senior team, including Chris Boyle and Chris Parker, to oversee portfolio companies acquired on behalf of Black Diamond’s controlled distressed/private equity funds.
Raygorodetsky has over 13 years’ experience in the controlled distressed field. Most recently, he served as senior managing director in GSC Group’s equity and distressed debt group where he was responsible
Deer Park Road, a registered investment adviser which invests in distressed mortgage and asset backed fixed income securities, has named Scott Burg as associate portfolio manager.
He reports to Michael Scheckman, portfolio manager and owner of the firm.
In addition to assisting with the management of the firm’s distressed MBS/ABS portfolio, Burg will assist with the risk management of the portfolio.

GSO Capital Partners, the credit arm of The Blackstone Group, has appointed John Cashwell and Eric Storch as managing directors and co-heads of institutional marketing for GSO’s customised credit strategies group.
They will lead an effort to expand GSO’s presence in long-only credit products for institutional investors through both commingled funds and separately managed accounts.
Cashwell and Storch join from Seix Investment Advisers.

Hoare Capital Markets, the independent agency broker and financial training provider, has hired two people with experience and contacts in both European and emerging markets.
Gianluca Lesina will join the fixed income team and has 13 years of experience in the field of structured products across different asset classes.
He started his career pricing and trading Index-linked notes and swaps (both fixed income and equity), before moving onto the sales side, focusing mainly on the Italian market.
He has worked for Credit Lyonnais, Credit Suisse and Bear Stearns where he ran the Italian desk for equity structured products.

Law firm Dechert has appointed M. Holland West, a private funds and derivatives lawyer, as a partner in the financial services practice group in New York.
West was previously at Shearman & Sterling, where he was the head of its global hedge fund, private equity, derivatives and structured finance practices.
He was also previously a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft where he was the head of its asset management and derivatives practices, and an assistant general counsel at Goldman Sachs advising its capital markets, derivatives, and commodity businesses.

Perella Weinberg Partners has appointed Steven Asciutto as a partner in its corporate advisory group.
Based in New York, Asciutto will focus on providing strategic and financial advice to investment managers and alternative asset managers.
Asciutto has nearly 15 years of investment banking experience. He was most recently a managing director in the financial institutions group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, focusing on investment managers and alternative asset management firms.
Prior to that, Asciutto spent ten years at Morgan Stanley in its financial institutions group, where he served as head of the investment management advisory group.

Declan O’Sullivan, head of Dechert’s Dublin team, advises domestic and international clients on the establishment and authorisation of all types of investment funds, including Ucits, hedge funds, property funds and private equity fund products. He also represents fund service providers, including investment managers, administrators, custodians and prime brokers.

Michelle Moran joins the Dublin
The board of the Association of Investment Companies has elected Sarah Bates to be the new chairman succeeding Carol Ferguson.
Bates will take up her new role from 24 January 2011 following the completion of Ferguson’s three years in office.
Bates has been on the AIC’s board since December 2006 and was elected as deputy chairman in January 2008.
She has also been involved in various other AIC committees including chairing the SORP review working party, chairing the AIC’s audit committee and serving on the chairman’s committee.
Bates has over 30 years of investment experience and has been an analyst,
Offshore law firm Appleby has appointed Christian Victory as an associate in its funds and investment services team.
Victory, who joined Appleby from William Fry in Dublin, transfers from the firm’s British Virgin Islands office where he advised clients on the formation, establishment and listing of mutual funds and hedge funds.
He also has experience in banking and finance, general lending, debt issuance and corporate and commercial law.
