Lombard Odier Investment Managers has strengthened its hedge fund resources with the appointment of Marc Bataillon and his team from Selectium Europe.
Bataillon will lead European equities from London reporting to Aziz Nahas, chief investment officer for equities at Lombard Odier Investment Managers.
Bataillon brings over 20 years of business expertise and seven years in managing long/short Western European equities.
Joining Lombard Odier with Bataillon will be two team members with whom he has worked since starting Selectium: Cyril Marquaire, senior analyst, and Arnaud Mallet, the team’s risk and operations manager. Together, they bring over 29 years of experience in
Alternative investment firm Permal Group has appointed Marilyn Schaja, formerly at Ivy Asset Management, to the Permal Americas sales team as senior vice president and head of US distribution channels.
Schaja, who started on 4 October, reports to Joshua Levine, head of institutional markets at Permal.
This is a new role at Permal, covering not only regional distribution, but also development of new products for the US onshore market.
Before Permal, Schaja spent nine years at Ivy where she was director of client development, managing high net worth channel client relationships.

Arnaud Apffel has joined Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management as managing director, head of global investment solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Apffel will oversee all global investment solutions activities across all asset classes for EMEA.
Based in Geneva, Apffel reports jointly to Marco Bizzozero, head of private wealth management EMEA and chief executive Deutsche Bank (Switzerland), and Kevin Lecocq, head of global investment solutions for Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management.

Deutsche Bank has consolidated its listed derivatives business to provide clients with execution and clearing services across asset classes.
In addition, the bank is further strengthening the new business with the appointment of eight new hires and expects to add to this number in the coming months.
The new business will be headed by Drew Bradford. He will report to Jon Hitchon, co-head of global prime finance.

Sunil Joshi has been appointed managing director, head of London equities. Joshi was previously head of equity trading at Renaissance Capital and prior to that he spent 12 years at Credit Suisse where he was head of EEMEA equity trading.
Berthold Maier has been appointed director of equity sales, based in London. Maier was previously director of international equity sales at Renaissance Capital. Prior to that, Maier spent ten years on the buy-side as a long-short equity portfolio manager for BlueCrest Capital, Griffin Capital and

James Caird Asset Management has hired Ian Newton and Matthew Addison from the special situations team at Cheyne Capital.
Newton joins James Caird with over 17 years’ experience in special situations investment management with extensive experience in risk arbitrage and event driven opportunities.
Addison joins from Cheyne Capital where he had become a partner in 2007. His focus is on event driven equities, merger arbitrage, and stressed/distressed debt strategies.

Jefferies has hired Josh Gold as a managing director and head of the firm’s new hedge fund relationship group.
Gold will be responsible for efforts to manage the firm’s overall relationships with US-based hedge funds, including representing Jefferies’ broad product offering across equities and fixed income.

Commodity hedge fund manager Global Advisors has appointed Paul Russell as chief operating officer.
Russell’s responsibilities will include all of the business aspects of Global Advisors including infrastructure, finance, legal, resources management and third-party outsourcing arrangements.
