Eurofin Capital has appointed Laurent Chevallier as head of alternative research and portfolio management.
Chevallier will lead Eurofin Capital’s total return research and asset management activities.
His role also includes running the firm’s range of multi-manager products and developing new absolute return investment strategies.
Before joining Eurofin Capital, Chevallier was executive director and head of manager selection and investments at Unigestion in Geneva, where he was in charge of a 12 man team of analysts and researchers managing USD3.5bn in hedge fund portfolios with top decile rankings.
Previously, he was chief investment officer and risk manager at BIM in Geneva.
BTIG, a broker dealer specialising in institutional trading and related brokerage services, has hired seven senior professionals in its fixed income group focusing on the areas of high yield/distressed, emerging markets and capital markets.
These hires continue BTIG’s ongoing expansion in the fixed income market.
BTIG has hired Chris Majak, Kerry Stein and Michael Satzberg in fixed income high yield/distressed; Tim Goodell, Diogenes Vazquez and Antonio Lopez-Torrero in fixed income emerging markets; and Peter Burton in fixed income capital markets.
BTIG has hired more than 75 fixed income professionals since the group was launched in February last year.

Matrix Asia Fund has added Sam West to its team, joining Rupert Foster and David Peerless.
Since its launch 18 months ago, the Matrix Asia Fund has outperformed the MSCI Asia Pacific Index by 48.09 per cent returning 33.89 per cent by using a long-short strategy that increasingly focuses on the relative winners and losers of the Asian growth story.
The fund holds 30 to 40 stocks between its long and short books.
West joins from Cantillon Capital Management and previously worked with Foster (pictured) at FM Capital.

Prologue Capital, an alternative investment firm that manages a discretionary fixed income strategy, has hired Noah Estrin as a senior portfolio manager focused on trading US agency mortgages.
Estrin will work in the firm’s Greenwich, Connecticut office and will report to the firm’s founding partners, Graham Walsh and David Lofthouse.
“Noah is an experienced trader and we believe we’ll benefit from his specialized expertise,” says Lofthouse. “The US mortgage market offers many stand-alone opportunities, and gives us additional insight into the other instruments we trade.”
Estrin was most recently co-head of agency mortgage trading at RBS Greenwich.

Ziegler has appointed Tom Paprocki as chief executive officer following the retirement of John Mulherin.
Paprocki (pictured), a member of Ziegler’s board of directors, has served in a senior executive role of the firm for a decade, the past five years as president.
He has had responsibility for the firm’s investment banking, capital markets, and wealth management business lines.

Rogge Capital Management has appointed Henrik Strabo as a portfolio manager and director of global emerging markets.
Founded in 2000, Rogge Capital is an equity hedge fund manager based in Austin, Texas, with over USD200m in assets under management.
Strabo brings nearly two decades of investment experience as an analyst, portfolio manager, and chief investment officer. Most recently, he was the chief investment officer at Clay Finlay, the global equity boutique, from 2006 to 2009.

Aksia, a provider of hedge fund research and advisory services, has appointed Bruce Ruehl and Jaeson Dubrovay as partners in the Americas advisory team.
Ruehl is highly regarded in the alternatives industry and has 26 years of financial markets experience.
His last 16 years were focused on hedge fund research, hedge fund portfolios and the management of institutional client relationships.
In 2001, Ruehl founded the boutique fund of hedge fund business, Gleacher Fund Advisors, in a joint venture with Gleacher Partners. As chairman and chief investment officer, he built the business to a peak of USD800m, with a majority of
Aros Capital Partners, the recently launched Anglo-Danish hedge fund manager, has strengthened its marketing team with the appointment of Louise Wachtmeister.
The hire comes ahead of the Q2 launch of Aros Altru, an altruistic fund which aims to challenge the notion that social impact investments are a trade off with commercial returns.
Wachtmeister, who will be based in London, is also supporting the existing Aros Paradigm Fund. She will be focusing on business development with particular emphasis on family offices.
Wachtmeister previously worked for NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway company, where she helped develop their Scandinavian client base.
She joins
Peak Ridge Capital Group’s venture capital fund, the Peak Ridge AgTech Fund, has expanded its advisory board to include Tommy G. Thompson, former four-time governor of Wisconsin and US secretary of health and human services.
As governor of Wisconsin from 1986 through 2002, Thompson was well-known for his efforts to revitalize the Wisconsin economy.
He also served as the secretary of health and human services under the Bush administration from 2001 to 2005 and has received numerous awards for his public service.
Thompson is currently a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and an active member on the
Commodity broker and introducing brokerage firm Levin-Mayer has appointed Stuart Karr, who most recently headed the firm’s brokerage business, as head of alternative investments.
Karr will report to Clive Xiu Chang, president and chief operating officer.
Karr joined Levin-Mayer in 2004 as a portfolio manager in asset management.
Levin-Mayer’s prime brokerage leadership team will continue to run the brokerage business.
