FrontPoint Partners has added an investment team to its platform which will manage a direct lending strategy dedicated to originating and investing in secured loans to small and mid-sized businesses primarily in the US.
Stephen Czech will lead the team and will be joined by Mark Newlun, Sze Ling Wan and Paul Ahrens.
The team will be based in FrontPoint’s Greenwich, Connecticut office.
Czech has over 21 years of leveraged lending and corporate finance experience and was the founder and portfolio manager of Contrarian Capital Finance, a middle market-focused direct lending strategy. At Contrarian, Czech successfully built the investment team
RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Bertrand Fitoussi as a managing director and head of European structured interest rate sales.
Fitoussi will be based in London and report to Avril Pomper, head of fixed income and currencies and financial products sales, Europe.
Fitoussi joins RBC Capital Markets from Société Générale, where he was deputy global head of structured rate products.
Fitoussi has also held positions at Gen Re Securities and Crédit Commerical de France.

Otkritie Financial has appointed Mikhail Belyaev as chief executive and chairman of the board.
Belyaev will be responsible for the overall operational management of the corporation.
One of his primary responsibilities will be to support the growth and development of the company, strengthening Otkritie’s position in both Russian and international markets.
Belyaev has a wealth of investment and stock market experience, the last four years of which have been with Otkritie as senior managing director. Prior to this he was deputy director for LenMontazhStroy Investment and chief executive for Kit Finance.

Law firm Maples and Calder has appointed Jon Fowler as the head of its investment funds group in the Cayman Islands.
David Brooks, previously the head of the investment funds group at Maples and Calder, has moved to the newly created post of chairman of Maples Finance.
Maples Finance is a full service fund administrator with USD30bn in assets under administration. It also provides independent directors to investment funds. Brooks continues to be a partner in the Maples and Calder funds group.

Carne Global Financial Services, an independent adviser to the asset management industry, has appointed Penry Jackson as managing director and Alison Magrath as director of compliance services, Carne Dubai.
Jackson will focus on advisory services to asset managers including fund establishment, directorships and distribution.
Magrath will act as compliance officer to asset managers and provide compliance advisory services in the Gulf region.
Jackson has over 25 years’ experience in financial markets, formerly as managing director, head of Mena global prime finance, Deutsche Bank. Prior to that role, he held a number of senior roles in Deutsche Bank’s global prime

Based in New York, Dickman will be reunited with London-based partner Robert Maguire and a growing team of advisory professionals covering global energy sector clients.
The addition of Dickman expands the firm’s coverage of the energy industry.
Dickman has over 20 years of energy-related investment banking experience at Morgan Stanley where he was most recently a managing director and co-head of the global energy group.

Sprott Asset Management, which manages the Sprott family of mutual funds, hedge funds and discretionary accounts, has appointed Scott Colbourne to the position of senior portfolio manager.
Colbourne started his career at the Bank of Canada and has accumulated more than 22 years of investment experience.
Prior to joining Sprott Asset Management, Colbourne was a senior fixed income portfolio manager at TD Asset Management where he was part of a team that managed all of the firm’s active fixed income institutional, retail and private client assets. He was also a member of the TDAM’s asset allocation committee.

HSBC has appointed Chris Barrow as global head of sales for the recently launched HSBC Prime Services business.
He will be responsible for sales and marketing of the business, initially focusing the client strategy around hedge funds and institutional fund managers across Europe and Asia.
Barrow joins from Nomura where he was international head of sales for prime services.
Prior to that, he was head of sales and marketing for global equity finance at HSBC from 2004 to 2007.
Barrow has over ten years’ experience in the industry, joining Bankers Trust in 1998 and subsequently Deutsche Bank’s equity finance and
Frédéric Bilas has joined European Fund Administration as the forthcoming NAV operations director.
After a transition period of six months, he will replace Jean Paul Thomas on 1 July 2010, when the latter retires.
Bilas will then also become a member of the executive committee.
Bilas began his career at J.P. Morgan in Brussels and London, and then moved to Accenture Luxembourg as senior manager financial services.
Afterwards, he was assistant manager of the organisation department of the Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat in Luxembourg before joining Dexia BIL where he was head of securities until the end of
