Gresham Investment Management managing director and head of the New York hedge fund’s systematic product strategy, Irene Perdomo, has joined Dubai-based Ocean Leonid Investments as co-head of the proprietary trading firm’s systematic strategies. Perdomo who spent the past three years at Gresham, started her career at Barclays in 2009 as a vice-president of commodities, before moving to the metals trading desk of Noble Group in June 2012. She left Noble in August 2013 to co-found hedge fund Devet Capital. Perdomo will be based in London in her new role at Ocean Leonid, which has been registered as an investment firm
As major banks makes significant staffing cuts, hedge fund Marshall Wace is continuing its hiring spree with the London-based firm adding to its headcount on both sides of the pond, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Morgan Stanley has appointed Charlotte Creager, an executive director in emerging markets at Goldman Sachs, as the bank’s new head of European hedge fund credit sales based in London, according to a report by eFinancial Careers. Creager spent 14 years in total with Goldman Sachs, first in London before moving to New York in September 2019 to focus on emerging markets fixed income. Prior to Goldman, she spent three years at JP Morgan in London. AlphaGrep, a global multi-asset, quant-based proprietary trading firm founded in 2010 by University of Pennsylvania alumni duo Mohit Mutreja and Parshant Mittal, has appointed Bhautik Ambani as the chief executive officer of its domestic investment management unit in India. In his new role, Bhautik, who helped the firm launch its maiden AlphaMine Absolute Return Fund – a Category III alternative investment fund – will be responsible for driving business growth, strengthening and expanding the firm’s domestic presence, and enhancing customer experience.   Prior to joining AlphaGrep, Bhautik was a managing director & partner at Avendus Capital Public Markets Alternate Strategies.
BFAM Partners, the Hong Kong and New York-based hedge fund firm founded by Benjamin Fuchs, has closed its London office after parting company with one of its most senior portfolio managers, Emmanuel Slezack, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report cites an email from BFAM as confirming the departure of Slezack who led equity volatility trading at the firm.
