HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed John Ware as Senior Product Specialist for hedge funds in its Alternatives team. Ware will be responsible for HSBC Global Asset Management’s established hedge fund product offering and expanding the platform to a larger institutional investor base globally. Based in London, he will report to Steven Ward, Global Head of Alternative Products, HSBC Global Asset Management.   Ware joins from BlackRock where he was a senior product specialist for BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), the firm’s hedge fund solutions platform. Systematica Investments (Systematica), a technology-driven manager focused on a quantitative and systematic investment approach, has made two senior investment hires, the latest step in the firm’s global expansion. Melanion Capital, a Paris-based independent alternative investment management company, has appointed Dan Costinescu as a portfolio manager for a new systematic macro fund. Costinescu, who has been actively involved in alternative asset management since 2005, will be managing a quantitative-based fund focusing on exploiting micro-structural imbalances in the commodity futures markets. IHS Markit (NYSE: INFO), a specialist in critical information, analytics and solutions, has announced the appointment of Deborah Orida as an independent director to its board and the retirement of Richard Roedel from the board. Orida’s appointment increases the size of the IHS Markit board to 12 directors. Steve Ashley, Senior Managing Director, Head of Wholesale, Nomura, takes over as Chair of GFMA from Sylvie Matherat, Chief Regulatory Officer and Management Board Member at Deutsche Bank AG. Charles A Hurty, a board member of SkyBridge Capital’s Multi-Advisor Hedge Fund Portfolios, has retired after 17 years as a director. Hurty is a former partner at KPMG and served as a trustee and director at iShares from 2005-2015.
