Apex Fund Services has appointed Elliott Brown to the newly created position of managing director – Americas.
Brown will have responsibility for overseeing the growth of all of Apex’s offices in North and South America.
Brown was formerly with JP Morgan for 18 years, most recently as the managing director responsible for leading the bank’s global hedge fund administration business. Prior to that role, Brown was in strategy and business development and was instrumental in the formation of the hedge fund and private equity fund administration businesses at JPMorgan. Brown also worked for JPMorgan in Australia in relationship management and operations.
Shareholders of Swiss alternative investment company Altin have accepted the payment of a CHF2.35 dividend and elected Roger Rüegg as board member in replacement of Nigel Russell.
The decisions were approved at the firm’s annual general meeting.
The business report and the annual financial statements were approved and the members of the board of directors were discharged. Following the board’s proposal and in accordance with the dividend policy announced in November 2011, the AGM accepted the payment of a dividend of CHF2.35 per share for 2012, out of share premium reserves. Law firm Walkers has named investment funds and finance specialist Mark Lewis as senior partner.
He will continue to work closely with Walkers’ global investment funds group in addition to taking on the role of senior partner. He becomes just the third individual to hold the title in the course of the firm’s 50 year history.
Lewis (pictured) has more than three decades of post qualification experience in all aspects of corporate and investment funds work. He joined Walkers’ Cayman office as an associate in 1994 and was appointed partner in just over four years. In 1999, he
Mariner Investment Group, an alternative asset manager, has named Richard Rumble, the former head of global emerging market equity prop trading at Goldman Sachs, to run a global emerging market equity portfolio on the Mariner Incubation Platform.
The platform is a multi-strategy mandate Mariner launched in April 2013 to be managed by leading investment talent sourced from the hedge fund industry.
The portfolio will be known as the Mariner INOX GEM. Today’s announcement follows the firm’s recent appointment of Eric Pellicciaro to manage a global macro portfolio on this new platform.

Stuart Levett and Julia Agafonova have joined CVC Credit Partners as managing director focused on European trading activity and director of fund administration, respectively.
Levett has spent more 16 years in banking with expertise in sourcing, managing and trading of performing, stressed and distressed credit assets. Levett spent eight years with Credit Suisse and its predecessor Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. More recently Levett was a managing director and senior originator and leverage sales at UBS and Cantor Fitzgerald responsible, inter alia, for sourcing impaired and distressed single line assets and portfolios, trading through capital structures and asset classes.
Rich Ricci, currently chief executive of corporate and investment banking (CIB) at Barclays, has decided to retire on 30 June 2013.
He will step down from the bank’s executive committee on 30 April 2013.
Ricci’s (pictured) retirement is just one of a raft of changes to the senior management within corporate and investment banking, wealth and investment management, and Barclays’ business in the Americas which will streamline the leadership in these areas. BCS Prime Brokerage, an independent financial institution, has appointed John Barker and Edward Golosov to its board.
Barker (pictured) and Golosov join existing executive directors Rizwan Kayani and Vitaliy Shelikhovskiy.
Barker joins as a non-executive director bringing more than 20 years of management experience in financial markets, including regulated brokers, banks and electronic trading platforms to the firm.

Appleby, a provider of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services, has made two senior additions to its funds and investment services team in Guernsey.
Appleby’s global head of funds, Ian Gobin (pictured), will transfer from the Cayman office to lead the global funds practice for a period of time from Guernsey. He will be joined by Deborah Poole who will be returning to Appleby in May as a partner in the same team.

Neuberger Berman, an employee-controlled asset manager, has appointed Susan Kasser as managing director and head of private debt at Neuberger Berman Alternatives.
Kasser joined Neuberger Berman in March and is based in New York.
Neuberger Berman’s private debt business is focused on building portfolios of attractive yield-oriented investments, including uni-tranche, second lien and mezzanine, and financing portfolio companies of private equity investors. Israel A Englander’s Managed Accounts and Prime Services (MA&PS) division, a new platform providing customised solutions to small to mid-sized hedge funds, has appointed Wall Street veteran Brett Langbert as managing director for the firm, where he will be responsible for directing sales and distribution.
Prior to joining MA&PS, Langbert (pictured) was president and chief operating officer of HedgeCo Networks and president of HedgeCo Securities.
