Clive Snowdon has been appointed group managing director of the Moore Group.   This new role is the first senior position to be announced since the fund business was acquired by First Names Group in January.   Snowdon’s (pictured) experience and knowledge ideally place him for the new role at Moore. He has over 15 years’ senior international business and operational experience in alternative assets covering hedge funds, funds of hedge funds and private equity funds. The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Jennifer Marietta-Westberg as deputy director of its division of risk, strategy, and financial innovation (RSFI).   The SEC created the division in September 2009 to help inform the agency’s policymaking, rulemaking, enforcement, and examinations. The division provides economic analysis, quantitative research, and risk assessment, and its staff has expertise in a variety of academic disciplines and deep knowledge of the financial industry and markets.   Marietta-Westberg will oversee the division’s policy and rulemaking support functions, particularly its economic analysis in support of SEC policy and rulemaking. Carne Group, a provider of governance and oversight services to the global funds industry, has appointed Jean de Courrèges as a director within its international team of independent fund directors.   Courrèges brings to Carne more than 30 years in banking and portfolio management in North America, Europe and Asia, including four years as a manager of fund investment operations and strategies with Credit Suisse Asset Management.   Courrèges has worked as trader in forex and fixed income with Banque Indosuez, and while there he developed profitable arbitrage strategies before he became regional treasurer in Singapore. Advent Software, a provider of software and services for the global investment management industry, has made two senior sales appointments.    Jad Fares has been appointed regional sales manager for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and will be based in Advent’s Dubai office, while Jesper Steiness has been appointed as director of business development for EMEA.    The announcement comes as Advent continues to expand its client base in EMEA across a wide range of market segments, including asset management firms, hedge funds, wealth management firms, funds of funds and family offices.   Fares joins Advent from
Maples Fund Services has hired Jason Brandt, regional head of fund services for the Americas, to lead the firm’s growing presence in the region.   Brandt has more than 18 years of experience in the financial services sector, focused primarily in hedge funds and private equity.   Brandt’s efforts will focus on servicing the growing North American business through expansion of administration, middle-office and risk services to investment managers, institutional investors and family offices. He will have responsibility over mandates serviced from North America, overseeing client relationship and operations teams. He will be based in the firm’s Montreal office and

UMB Fund Services (UMBFS) has made leadership changes and appointed a new representative for its business development team.   Lonnie Macdonald has transitioned out of his role as head of business development for UMBFS in order to focus on other responsibilities within the organisation. He had led the business development team since September 2007.   Macdonald will continue to serve as head of marketing for UMBFS and as president of the company’s alternative investment servicing division, JD Clark & Company. In addition, he will be focusing on developing and implementing a suite of middle-office services to be offered to clients.
The Hedge Fund Association (HFA) has appointed regional directors to head its newly established chapters in Australia (Adriana Kostov), Texas (Mark A Feanny) and Utah (Ronnie Hale).   These are all territories in which the HFA has not previously been represented.   “I am looking forward to the challenge of leading Hedge Fund Association activity in Australia at this exciting time in its history,” says Kostov (pictured), who has executive level experience in risk management, corporate development and compliance advisory in the financial services and family office sectors.   Kostov currently holds the role of director of compliance & general counsel
