The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the global hedge fund association, has appointed two deputy chairmen from its existing directors and an investor-appointee to the AIMA Council. The new deputy chairmen are Andrew Bastow (pictured), head of government and regulatory affairs and general counsel, Winton Capital Management; and Chris Pearce, Asia chief operating officer, Marshall Wace Asia. Hedge fund manager Man Group has combined two of its hedge fund units and made changes to the company’s management structure ahead of Emmanuel Roman (pictured) taking over from Peter Clarke as chief executive officer on 28 February. According to reports, Luke Ellis is to become president of the company with responsibility for its three main investment divisions, FRM, GLG and ALM, which runs the group’s largest hedge fund AHL. Anthony Maniscalco, the former head of alternative asset management within Barclays’ financial institutions investment banking division, has joined Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM), Blackstone’s hedge fund solutions business. Opus Fund Services, an independent full-service fund administrator, has expanded its US platform with the opening of a New York office. The Park Avenue location will initially focus on business development and will be headed by the new director of sales and business development, Jorge Hendrickson. Moriarty will be based in New York City and has been appointed to the Dynasty Financial Partners investment committee.
