Chi-X Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of alternative trading venue operator Chi-X Global, has appointed John Fildes as chief executive officer effective 1 May 2013.
To ensure a smooth transition, Peter Fowler will continue in his role as CEO until 1 May 2013 and Fildes (pictured) will join the team in early April.
Fildes’ experience includes senior capital markets roles at MSCI, Morgan Stanley, Instinet and Getco. He oversaw the entry into the Australian market of both Instinet and Getco. He is a former board member of the Stockbrokers Association of Australia and remains significantly involved with that
In its meeting on 21 March 2013, the supervisory board of Eurex Clearing decided on the new composition of its executive board.
Thomas Book, who has been a member since March 2007, was appointed as chief executive officer of Eurex Clearing.
Newly appointed to the executive board were Heike Eckert (44) as chief operating officer, Thomas Laux (39) as chief risk officer and Eric Müller (39) for treasury. Andreas Preuss and Jürg Spillmann will continue as executive board members of Eurex Clearing.

Appleby has appointed senior funds and finance specialist George Bashforth as head of directorship services for Appleby Trust (Cayman) Ltd.
The appointment is the second senior appointment announced in as many months for the firm’s burgeoning funds and finance practice, which spans both the trust company and the law firm.
It also comes hot on the heels of the firm’s announcement last month that funds and finance partner Ian Gobin had joined the legal team in Cayman from Walkers.
Bashforth, previously a senior vice president at MaplesFS, starts in the new post on 2 April.

The Conifer Group, a provider of fund administration, middle office, trading and prime brokerage services to the hedge fund industry, is expanding its sales team by naming David Goldstein as director and Elizabeth Whitehouse as vice president of business development.
They will report to Howard Eisen (pictured), Conifer’s managing director and head of sales.
Goldstein and Whitehouse will market Conifer’s products to prospective managers in the industry, which includes hedge fund managers, traditional asset managers, private equity managers, fund of funds managers, university endowments, family offices, and pensions. Altin, the Swiss alternative investment company listed on the London and Swiss stock exchanges, has appointed Tony Morrongiello as position of chief executive.
Morrongiello takes up his duties today and will be in charge of managing Altin’s day-to-day operations and maximising its shareholder value.
Morrongiello has more than 15 years’ experience of managing funds of hedge funds in Switzerland, Europe and Asia. He has managed or advised a number of alternative investment companies and has founded Caliburn Capital Partners, a company which managed funds of theme funds in London, Geneva and Singapore. BNY Mellon has expanded its global derivatives clearing leadership team with five new appointments in the US and Europe.
Mark B Gonzalez has been appointed as the US chief operating officer for derivatives clearing services, based in New York.
Gregory Chemin has been appointed as the business head of derivatives clearing services, based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Paul Dex (London), John Guthrie (New York) and Thomas Twomey (New York) will lead the company’s regional efforts to identify and develop new opportunities in the listed and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives markets.

Lyxor Asset Management is strengthening its sales and marketing team with the appointment of Véronique Parizet as head of sales for French and German-speaking Europe and the enhancement of its sales organisation on this zone.

InfraHedge, the State Street-owned managed account platform with over USD7.6bn of client assets, has appointed Robert Picard to the newly-created role of president, InfraHedge North America.
Picard (pictured) will lead InfraHedge’s North American business and further strengthen the firm’s global management team. He brings more than 20 years’ experience and a deep knowledge of the hedge fund industry.

Barnes brings over 20 years of institutional experience marketing to pension funds in the US.
His experience includes senior marketing roles at Schroders, AXA Rosenberg and Neuberger Berman.
During his career Barnes has developed an in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of investments strategies. Barnes’ responsibilities will include assisting with due diligence on potential managers the firm may represent, and managing the firms US public pension fund strategy.
