NYSE Euronext has announced that Alan van Griethuysen has been named President of the Association of Futures Markets (AFM). The Association of Futures Markets (AFM) is an international non-profit organisation that was founded in 1998. The prime objective of the Association is to globally promote and encourage the establishment of new derivative markets. To this end, the AFM organises international conferences to promote communication among AFM-members, to strengthen their relationship and to transfer information and experience among them. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has appointed James E Odell has as First Deputy General Counsel (Deputy GC).   Odell brings more than 25 years of legal expertise in the financial services industry to this role, most recently with UBS Investment Bank. He reports to Larry E Thompson, Managing Director and General Counsel. Odell will serve as the primary legal advisor to the General Counsel and the lead legal advisor to DTCC’s senior business leaders. KBR Capital Markets has hired Steve Carson, formerly of NGAS, as its President and Chief Compliance Officer, and Jim Fitzpatrick, formerly of Steadfast Companies, as its Senior Vice President and National Sales Manager. Additionally, KBR Capital Markets announced that it has added a number of members to its external and internal sales team, as well as its support divisions. This team markets KBR Capital Partners, Inc. co-branded partnership programs through the Independent Broker-Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) channels. Carson has more than 30-years of business and entrepreneurial experience in a variety of industries, and private and corporate law practice.
CAIS, a New York-based financial technology company providing an independent, alternatives investment platform to the wealth management industry, has appointed Landon A Stone has joined as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel.   Stone is responsible for legal, compliance and operational matters at CAIS, and will also serve as a Member of CAIS Capital LLC, the firm’s FINRA-registered broker-dealer. His addition will strengthen the CAIS team as the firm continues to expand.

Hermes BPK Partners (Hermes BPK), the USD1.6 billion alternative advisory boutique and fund of hedge funds, has appointed Robert F Wescott as its new Chairman.    With a highly distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, DrWescott is Founder and President of Keybridge Research LLC, an economic analysis firm based in Washington, DC. Keybridge has served G-7 governments, major financial institutions, and Fortune 500 companies since 2001, with Dr Wescott focusing on global macroeconomics, financial risks, and public policy research.   From 1999 until 2001, Wescott served as Special Assistant to the US President for Economic Policy at the White House.
The London Metal Exchange (LME) has appointed Trevor Spanner as managing director of post-trade services, a key step in the LME’s project to take greater control of its clearing business. Spanner is currently chief operating officer at European Central Counterparty Ltd (EuroCCP) and it is anticipated he will join the LME in early November. “Trevor joins the LME at an exciting time, as we examine options in clearing to maximise efficiencies and value for our members,” said LME CEO Martin Abbott. Global alternative investment firm Investcorp has appointed Savio Tung as Chief Executive Officer, North America. Tung returns to a full time role at Investcorp, where he was one of the founding partners and served from 1984 until 2009, from 1995 until 2000 as Head of Corporate Investment, North America and from 2001 to 2009 as Head of Technology Investment. From 2009, Tung served as an advisor to Investcorp and as Chairman of its Technology Investment Committee, combining this with a number of board positions, including a role with Bank of China, Hong Kong Limited.
