International Asset Management, a fund of hedge funds investment manager in Europe, has appointed Andrew Cade as head of client development and marketing and Mark Faulkenberg as head of operational due diligence.
Based in IAM’s London office, Cade will be responsible for heading up the client development and marketing team at IAM and will join IAM’s heads of department committee.
Cade has over 14 years of investment experience, seven of which is in the hedge fund industry. He was formerly a director at ABN Amro and a member of the alternative investment funds team specialising in listed hedge and private
RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Simon Ballard as a director and senior credit strategist in London.
Ballard will be based in RBC’s London office and will report to Roger Appleyard, head of global credit research, RBC Capital Markets.
Ballard joins RBC Capital Markets with over 20 years’ market experience, most recently at Creditsights, where he was head of European credit strategy. Prior to this, he held credit strategist roles at ABN Amro Asset Management, BNP Paribas and Bear Stearns.

Veritas Asset Management has appointed Guy Davidson to the newly established position of UK regional discretionary sales manager.
Davidson’s primary role will be to develop and strengthen Veritas’s relationships with regionally based discretionary asset managers across the UK, helping to promote the firm’s suite of global and Asia products.
He will also be responsible for relationship management and business development with the head offices of national wealth management firms.

Trafalgar Capital Management, the London based hedge fund manager, has appointed Josh Jacobson as partner and senior portfolio manager.
Jacobson was previously a partner and portfolio manager at Cheyne Capital, where he managed a European long/short equity portfolio for the Cheyne Value Fund.
Prior to that, he worked for JP Morgan as a director of equity sales, where he worked on the hedge fund sales team. Jacobson began his career at Salomon Brothers in 1994, working initially in New York in the emerging market research department and later as director of equity sales in London.

FBR Capital Markets, an investment bank serving the middle market, has expanded its European institutional brokerage, a unit of its London-based subsidiary Friedman, Billings, Ramsey International.
David Abraham and Blake Hill have joined the firm as director, institutional sales, and Alfredo Mujica and Daniel Tully have joined as director, equity sales and trading.
The additions complement the growth of the firm’s European equity research platform.

Lyxor Asset Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Societe Generale, has hired Michael Bernstein to further develop its relationships with US based consultants and institutional investors.
He will be based in New York and report to Lionel Erdely, Lyxor’s chief executive for the US.
Bernstein was previously the head of North American marketing for FRM Americas, where he served as lead relationship manager and marketed hedge fund strategies to the firm’s North American clients, which included several of the top pensions and endowments in the US and Canada.

European equities investment specialist SAM Capital Partners has appointed Andrew Kennedy as its chief operating officer.
Kennedy (pictured) assumes responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day business management and expansion of the firm’s investor base.
He joins from Dresdner Kleinwort in London, where he was a senior member of the alternative investments group. Prior to this, he was a principal at Onda Capital and a senior member of the equity capital markets group at JPMorgan in London.

Insparo Asset Management has stepped up the marketing and investment strategy of its Insparo Africa & Middle East Fund with the appointment of Jamie Allsopp.
As well as contributing to the research and investment decisions of the fund, Allsopp (pictured) will primarily be responsible for marketing the fund in Insparo’s target markets.
He will use the experience gained from launching, managing and marketing a previous Africa targeted fund to build Insparo’s profile among new investors.
Allsopp has a strong background in fund management and African markets, garnered during eight years with New Star Asset Management. He joined New Star
Armajaro Asset Management has appointed Roxanne Sargent as co-head of sales and marketing.
Sargent will focus on the marketing of Armajaro Asset Management’s range of hedge fund strategies and work on business development initiatives.
She will report to Richard Gower, chief executive officer.
Armajaro Asset Management currently manages four hedge funds with combined assets under management in excess of USD1.5bn. Its most recent fund, the Armajaro Emerging Markets Fund, launched in July 2009 has achieved +15 per cent net return in its initial three months of trading to end September.

Prologue Capital, an alternative investment firm that manages a discretionary fixed income strategy, has appointed Devin Graham as chief risk officer.
He is based at the company’s headquarters in London and reports to David Lofthouse, Prologue’s chief executive.
Graham will oversee market, liquidity and counterparty risk, policy development and compliance for Prologue’s funds.
“We are delighted to have Devin on board and his expertise will add a vital new layer to our investment processes,” says Lofthouse. “Risk management is an integral part of our philosophy and this role will expand as we continue to grow.”
