Guernsey law firm Collas Day has boosted its funds practice with the recruitment of Wayne Atkinson and Susan O’Leary.
Atkinson joins the firm as a senior associate from international firm Walkers in the British Virgin Islands where his practice focused on investment funds and general corporate transactions.
Prior to Walkers Atkinson worked in London at Herbert Smith in the firm’s investment finds and regulatory team.
O’Leary (pictured) moved to Guernsey from Dublin firm Dillon Eustace at the end of the summer. Her expertise covers investment funds and financial services. During her time at Dillon Eustace, O’Leary was seconded to
BTIG Australia, a broker dealer specialising in institutional trading and related brokerage services, has expanded its Australian presence with four senior hires.
BTIG has brought on Darin Lester, David McConnell, Dustin Westblade and Trevor Harrison to further build out its Australian business and to expand its presence in the broader Asian region.
These new hires increase BTIG’s Australian team to 11 professionals.
Lester, McConnell and Harrison will be based in Sydney. With the addition of Westblade, BTIG will now have coverage and representation in Melbourne.

Hermes Fund Managers has made a step forward in its development to become a multi specialist asset manager with the recruitment of a global equities team.
Joining from Fortis, the Boston-based team of six is led by Lode Devlaminck and John Chisholm and has an average of 19 years of investment experience.
The recruitment of the team will provide Hermes with the expertise to build a core active global equity business which will be structured as a specialist investment partnership.
Hermes will own the majority share but the partners and employees will have a stake in both the long-term profitability
Newedge, a provider of global brokerage and clearing services, has named John Ruskin global head of financial futures and options execution.
Based in London, Ruskin (pictured) will seek to further strengthen Newedge’s position as a broker in financial futures and options trading.
Ruskin will oversee the global operations of Newedge’s FF&O teams, facilitating cross-border trading and client’s execution needs across asset classes. Newedge has one of the largest FF&O businesses in the industry with more than 300 brokers in 17 countries.
Previously, Ruskin worked as managing director for the Cube division of Fimat, before the formation of Newedge in January
Chi-X Global, a holding company for regional Chi-X market centres and the Chi-Tech technology solutions provider, has added Christopher Brown and Raks Sondhi to its Asia-Pacific sales team.
Brown and Sondhi will be responsible for driving business development efforts across Asia-Pacific, ensuring that market participants are aware of Chi-X Global’s product developments in the region.
Brown, based in Hong Kong, will service traditional long-only investment firms, while Sondhi, based in Singapore, will work with the high-frequency and quantitative investment community.
Both will report directly to Ronald Gould, chief executive for Chi-X Asia-Pacific.

Sophis, a provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions, has appointed René Flor as area sales director for Switzerland and Luxembourg.
Flor has 15 years’ experience of the investment management industry, especially in the areas of wealth and asset management, investment compliance and risk management.
Flor joins Sophis from Odyssey Financial Technologies, where he was in charge of new business for Southern Europe. Previous roles include director of international sales for software solution company Aquin Components; chief executive of YoPass; managing director of Global WebTrade; and management partner at Consultec.
Younes Guemouri, chief operating officer of Continental Europe
Quoin Partners has appointed Nathan Dean as senior partner.
Dean has deep experience in the alternative asset and investment management industries as well as being an experienced entrepreneur.
He joins Quoin from The Druker Company, where he was a project director in charge of commercial real estate investment, managing large networks of providers in the firm’s acquisition and development initiatives.
Prior to Druker, Dean worked for Davidson Kempner Capital Management and JPMorgan Investment Management where he sourced new opportunities, provided detailed financial and strategic analysis, and managed the entire investment process for both funds.

Scott Licamele, former vice president of equity research sales at Renaissance Capital, has joined hedge fund Red Star Asset Management, where his responsibilities include emerging markets equity research and business development.
He is based in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Prior to working at Renaissance Capital, Licamele headed up North American equity sales and trading for Russia’s Alfa Bank in New York. He also marketed Alfa Capital Partners private equity fund to North American clients.

Both professionals bring more than 15 years of experience to the firm.

Chang and O’Sullivan join the recently formed emerging markets
RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Mike Bass as a managing director and head of fixed income and currencies, Asia (non-Japan).
It has also appointed Mark Otis Zownir as a managing director and head of USD rates trading, Asia.
Both Bass and Zownir will be based in RBC Capital Markets’ Hong Kong office.
